DRSC implements an innovative new Train-the-Trainer course for its alumni

This Fall DRSC has implemented a new Train-the-Trainer course for its alumni. This represents the next strategic step in strengthening capacity development efforts that support alumni in adopting and disseminating the Safe System Approach within their organizations and networks.

The course is a pilot programme which has aimed to facilitate 17 DRSC alumni in becoming confident trainers who can develop and deliver locally relevant road safety courses, creating a multiplier effect for Safe System implementation across LMICs. The course has sought to enhance skills to access resources and institutional support to enable knowledge sharing programmes as well as skills to design, develop and deliver trainings effectively.

Following the philosophy that “Safe System is not a cookbook,” the programme focused on HOW to teach rather than WHAT to teach, emphasizing training delivery skills, peer learning from shared experiences and failures, and practical implementation guidance including funding and partnership opportunities.

With the final session held on 9 December 2025, participants will go on to develop actionable project proposals for local road safety courses, with the goal of delivering training within the next 6-12 months. While more Train the Trainer courses will be made available to our alumni over the next two-years.
